Pathway To Christ

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to
destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and
difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13-14

What does it mean to receive Jesus Christ as one's personal Savior and Lord?

Receiving Jesus Christ as one's personal Savior and Lord means to be reconciled to or
brought back to a relationship with God.

"Now then, we (Christians) are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading
through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For He (God) made
Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us (mankind), that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:20-21

Why do I need to be reconciled to God?

Mankind's relationship was severed as a result of Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden. God
instructed Adam, the first man, not to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden.(Genesis
2:6,17) Unfortunately Adam did not follow God's instructions. He ate the fruit of the
forbidden tree. When he did this, his relationship with God was destroyed. In addition to
this, the relationship between God and Adam's offspring, mankind, was also destroyed.

The Bible, God's Word, tells us "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of
God." Romans 3:23

Fortunately, God was not satisfied with this broken relationship. So He sent His Son,
Jesus Christ, into the earth to pay the price of Adam's sin and the sins of you and me.

"For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever
believes on him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"In this the love of God was manifested (shown) toward us, that God has sent His only
begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him." 1 John 4:9

Without the reconciliation of sin or repentance of sin we are seperated from God. Until
we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior we are not only seperated here on earth, but
for eternity. Without the blood Christ shed on the cross there is no remission of sin.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"
Romans 6:23

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world
through him might be saved. He who believes in Him (Jesus Christ) is not condemned;
but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:17-18

How did Jesus pay the price for sin?

Jesus suffered death by crucifixion at the hands of the Roman soldiers. God accepted
his death as payment for the sin of mankind. But because Jesus was God, He defeated
death hell and the grave by rising on the third day from the tomb. And through his
resurrection, he lives today in the hearts of men! Jesus is alive today! And when we
accept Him as Lord and Savior and allow Him to rule and reign within us, He will watch
over and protect us from Satan and the things of this world.

How do I receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?

The Bible says " that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. for with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"
Romans 10:9-10

If you truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for your sins,
and rose again on third day so you may live forever with Him, pray this prayer out loud
to Him:

Dear Jesus, Please forgive me. I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died on the cross
for my sins. I believed You rose from the dead so I might live with You forever. I give my
life over to You and ask the Holy Spirit to work in me. I repent of my sins and turn away
from my wicked ways. I want you to be Lord and Savior of my life. Thank you God for
sending Your Son, Jesus, to carry the burden of my sin and restore my relationship with
You. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, please let us know. We want to lift you up in prayer as you
begin your new start with God. We want to rejoice with you.

What do I do now?

First find a local church that believes and preaches the Bible. The local church is your
best place to start. Get others around to help you in your new walk with Jesus Christ. If
you are having trouble let us know. We will direct you to a sound church, full of sinners,
who like you have repented and now are following God's call.

Get a bible and start to read it. Start with the book of John and begin to apply God's
promises to your life. There is a hope a future planned for you.

Pray and share. Pray for others who need to hear the message of God's Son and share it
with others. Let them know what God has done for you.
